What is a celebrant and why should you pick one?

Updated: Oct 28

A celebrant is a person who officiates or performs a ceremony of any kind.

A humanist Celebrant operates within the guidelines of humanism while an Independent celebrant (me) is fully inclusive of other faiths, religions etc.

Why you should consider a celebrant -

🔸A celebrant will be able to build a relationship with you before the big day.

🔸They spend time learning about you as a couple or family and write a ceremony based exactly on who you are and what YOU want.

🔸 Your ceremony can be held anywhere you like. A meadow (like the one in this picture), the beach or even your front garden. You are not limited to having the ceremony in a registered building.

🔸This also allows venues that aren’t registered to host ceremonies. #winwin

🔸You are not limited by a registrars time and the ceremony can be as long and as inclusive as you like.

The only thing to note is that a celebrant cannot perform the legally binding aspect of a wedding. This will need to be done at the registry office with two witnesses on a day and time of your choosing.
